Dr Jo Rose

Jo Rose has worked within and between academia and policy and practice in disasters, conflicts and uneven development. She has worked intensively in complex political emergencies in countries such as Liberia, Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan. Her ongoing work on community involvement in the delivery of humanitarian aid seeks to shape future practice and policy on humanitarian interventions in disasters and conflicts. Jo’s research focuses on the delivery of humanitarian aid in chronic complex emergencies, particularly in Africa.
Jo is currently researching the role of beneficiary communities in humanitarian interventions. She is exploring an approach that enables communities themselves to manage and implement humanitarian projects in chronic emergencies with an aim of promoting community resilience.
