Dr Rajnaara Akhtar
Brief Bio: Rajnaara Akhtar is a lecturer at De Montfort University, and her teaching has covered Family Law, Gender and the Law, Child Law (Postgraduate) and International Child Law. Rajnaara was previously Co-ordinator for the University of Warwick’s Global Research Priorities programme in International Development, where she also taught as a part-time lecturer.
Her PhD focussed on legal pluralism and family law in the UK context, and post-doctoral research focussed on unregistered marriages in the UK, autonomy and cultural expression, and family law in context.
Rajnaara has held a post-doctoral research fellowship with London based Law firm Duncan Lewis. She is also a qualified solicitor, and trained with international law firm Eversheds LLP.
