Dr Shamsul Karim

Dr Shamsul Karim is a lecturer in entrepreneurship at the University of Essex, UK. He has held several academic and research positions in the UK and Bangladesh over the last sixteen years.
Before joining the University of Essex, Shamsul worked as an impact analyst at Islamic Relief Worldwide for a year and for the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) in the UK as a national team member, and as the Country Director of GEM Bangladesh. He has worked extensively as an evaluation consultant for the Department of Business Innovation and Skills, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Young Business International, The Prince’s Initiative for Mature Enterprise, and Coffey International.
Prior to this, he worked for the International Islamic University in Chittagong, Bangladesh as the Head of the Department of Business Administration. Karim has published a number of research articles in different academic journals and leading conferences.
