Dr Abdelrahman Essam
Dr Essam is a Senior Academic Fellow at HAD. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from Alexandria University in 2005, before being awarded an MSc in Global Health Sciences from the University of Oxford in 2013.
As well as being a qualified medical doctor, Abdelrahman has nearly ten years’ experience in the humanitarian sector as a practitioner working in numerous locations, including Egypt, Uganda, Turkey and Albania. He is currently the Head of Syria Mission for Islamic Relief Worldwide, where he oversees all programmatic work carried out by the Islamic Relief Syria (IR Syria) office. He is dedicated to evidence collection and analysis, incorporating research when feasible into project delivery associated with IR Syria.
Prior to his career with Islamic Relief, Abdelrahman worked for the Ministry of Health and Population in Egypt as a Primary Healthcare Doctor as well as for the Arab Medical Union and USAID.
