The deterioration occurring in the infrastructure of Iraq during the last 20 years, especially in Water and Sanitation sectors (which are most important sectors) has created a major health problem. The unavailability of spare parts and cash for repairs and setting up new network systems, as well frequent electrical cuts reaching up to 10 hours a day, have led to further deterioration in this vital sector. The predicament is aggregated due to the exodus of qualified technical staff due to bad security situations and continuous displacing, lack of incentives, and replacements are unqualified to run this kind of facilities. This led to further problems and damages to the working life of the equipment used. Also there is an urgent need for training of operating staff in this sector.
