Rebuilding shattered lives On Saturday 8th of October 2005, the world awoke to a devastating earthquake hitting Northern Pakistan and India. Measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale and penetrating just six miles below the earth's surface, the quake caused an enormous loss of life with current death toll estimates surging past 74,000.   Just over 5 months have passed since Cyclone “Aila” hit Bangladesh( 25 May 2009) but sufferings still continuing in the severely affected districts of Khulna and Shatkhira where more than 201,982 displaced people (70% of severely affected people) are still living in temporary places and shlters. Dedicated alleviating the suffering of the world’s poorest people An inauguration ceremony was arranged in village Zara Miana, district Nowshera to hand over 200 permanent shelters built for flood-hit families. A large number of people from all walks of life, especially the community attended the ceremony. Special Edition Islamic Relief Pakistan Islamic Relief has planned distribution of sacrificial meat to approximately 36,000 families (250,000 individuals) in Kurram Agency, Nowshera, Charsadda districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad – Balochistan, Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Neelum districts of Azad Kashmir respectively. Islamic Relief’s Qurbani programme started in 1986 and over the years has been increasing in size, reaching more and more people every year.
