How HAD is responding to COVID-19?
HAD is currently implementing an essential and important project aimed at building the capacity of Iraqi, Syrian and Yemeni NGOs to adapt to the current COVID-19 context. Local NGOs from these three countries will be provided remote training and mentoring to adjust to the COVID-19 crisis in order to be able to carry out their indispensable work and build their capacity to become COVID-19 responders in their local contexts.
Strengthening the humanitarian and
international development sector worldwide
Initially established in 2013 as the leadership and development arm of Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW), the Humanitarian Academy for Development (HAD) is now a centre of global excellence, serving the leadership, programmes and talent development needs of the international development and humanitarian sector.
Through innovative training, cutting-edge applied programmes and leadership development, we build the capacity of practitioners and professionals in NGOs, relief and development aid agencies. HAD equips its clients with the necessary tools and training to continue providing life-saving professional assistance in the humanitarian and development sector.
We help organisations become stronger by providing training for humanitarian professionals, strengthening leadership, governance and financial management to maximise frontline effectiveness, thereby aiding their transformation into more robust and sustainable organisations. Post-training, our clients are then able to withstand various internal and external challenges prevalent within the sector.
We are the first ever humanitarian organisation to gain the Princess Royal training award.
Through our various talent development internship schemes we’ve built the capacity of some amazing future humanitarians and become a part of their success stories. Some of our interns moved on to play vital roles within the international development and humanitarian sector, and some have even landing a role here at HAD!
