 As an International Humanitarian Aid Agency, Islamic Relief has been privileged enough to work amongst a variety of people in many nations across the cultural, religious and international spectrum. Many People, including myself, are increasingly wearing of hearing about numerous lectures, meetings and conferences addressing the issue of dialogue. These gathering are perceived by some as being a waste of time, money and effort. Why? Because whilst we stand here talking and theorising, the public about which we like to speak does see nor feel any concrete results. Islamic Relief in Bosnia and Herzegovina was established twenty years ago. Islamic Relief in the United Kingdom was established more than twenty six years ago as a solution to the suffering in the world. Today, with God’s mercy, it is one of the greatest humanitarian organizations with the branch offices in more than 40 countries in the world. We closely cooperate with local communities, governments, United Nations (we are a member of UN and signatory of the “Code of Conduct”) as well as with other NGOs fighting against poverty, suffering and social injustice. The crisis continues to deepen in Syria with a starkly worrying picture for the humanitarian situation. At least 2.5 million people are affected, and the UN estimates that up to 4 million people could be affected in the next coming months. Widespread damage and destruction to medical facilities have left large parts of the population without access to health care and many children are denied education as schools become collective shelters for IDPs or have been badly managed. Islamic Relief responds to South Asia Earthquake Over 79,000 people were killed, and over 3 million people were left homeless in the devastating earthquake which affected Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan.
