Syria Emergency Response 2012-2014

2023-04-16T11:16:01+00:00

Many refugees have lost family members, witnessed violence, and fled the destruction of their homes and cities, only to find themselves still living in fear abroad. The humanitarian needs of refugees are increasing with no sufficient funds to meet those needs. The security situation in Syria has deteriorated with on-going violence in the north and east Raqqa, Hassakeh, Deir ez Zour and Idlib governorates. The intensification of conflict in Idlib continues to limit the provision of humanitarian assistance to the people in need. Palestine Conflict: One Month On

2023-04-16T10:05:48+00:00

More than 1,900 Palestinians, including women and children, have been killed and thousands more injured since conflict broke out in July. Damage to public infrastructure has left over 1.5 million people without reliable access to basic services, including water and sanitation, and the public health system is close to collapse. Up to a quarter of the population is thought to have been displaced, with the UN’s Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) reporting that around 270,000 people are sheltering in its [...]

The objectives of the policy are: to provide guidance for the family on the role IR can play in addressing climate change; to advocate to political forums and external audiences what IR believes the issues are, [...]

Greening The Desert Water Solutions for West Africa

2023-04-16T09:57:36+00:00

Throughout West Africa, the impact of climate change has been strongly felt over the last 40 years, with increased desertification, cyclical droughts and flooding. As a result, the people of West Africa are suffering from repeated outbreaks of diseases, persistent malnutrition and currently one of the worst cases of food insecurity in the world. Islamic Relief has always aimed to be effective in alleviating poverty. This can only be achieved if disasters such as droughts and floods are controlled and mitigated. Islamic Relief believes that much poverty is linked to problems with water. With effective provision of water, communities can get [...]

The stories in this document give an insight into the lives of flood affected communities with whom we have worked hand in hand.
