Climate change is the defining human development challenge of our time. It threatens to stall poverty reduction and hard-earned progress made in achieving the Millennium Development Goals. In the countries of South Asian region, including Pakistan, the early signs of climate change are already visible. Out of the last 12 years of the last century, 11 were the hottest of the last 400 years where temperatures in Pakistan reached 53 degree C and in Finland 37 or so. These changes are already threatening the lives and livelihoods, health and well-being of millions, especially the poor and vulnerable, who lack the financial, technical, human and institutional resources to adapt. It requires knowledge, skills and resources to adapt to the changing climate.
