Displaced within homeland

In the wake of fleeing from the conflict-torn Khyber Agency, Islamic Relief Pakistan started implementation of Humanitarian Assistance for Internally Displaced Persons at Jalozai, district Nowshera. The project aims to assist 4000 off-camp IDP families under health & hygiene promotion along with sanitation facilities.

  • Project focuses on Primary Health Care (PHC including mother & child health care)
  • Psycho-social Support (psycho-social counselling and referral where needed)
  • WASH (health & hygiene promotion, latrines for patients and other services where needed)

According to an assessment, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are fleeing into P eshawar and surrounding areas. A large number of IDPs took refuge at Jalozai camp and the remainder has opted to move in with relatives, for an array of reasons linked to tradition, culture and perceptions of available services.
