2023-04-27T08:12:54+00:00

A 10-point Roadmap for Europe European governments and the European Commission have been increasingly supporting a greater role for the private sector in their development cooperation. With new EU policies and instruments such as the European External Investment Plan, it was deemed important for CONCORD members to agree on a common position, common messages and priorities regarding the role of the private sector in contributing to sustainable development. To write this paper, CONCORD Europe’s specific work stream on the private sector collaborated with all of CONCORD’s membership, but also with other civil society organisations and CSO confederations. Delivery of Portable Water to People in Tarmiya

2023-04-27T08:07:56+00:00

The deterioration occurring in the infrastructure of Iraq during the last 20 years, especially in Water and Sanitation sectors (which are most important sectors) has created a major health problem. The unavailability of spare parts and cash for repairs and setting up new network systems, as well frequent electrical cuts reaching up to 10 hours a day, have led to further deterioration in this vital sector. The predicament is aggregated due to the exodus of qualified technical staff due to bad security situations and continuous displacing, lack of incentives, and replacements are unqualified to run this kind of facilities. Our Lives

Children in Key Stage 1 bring a wealth of personal experiences into the classroom. Through travel, food, social circles, cultural practices, stories, rhymes and of course technology – children are now born as citizens of our global village. Generally they will have positive associations. Some will have the ability to compare similarities and differences between places and people. Others may know there are places in the world where people live in poverty. Yet what does living in poverty mean? Where do families live? Do children go to school? What do they play with? What do they eat? Office http://www.islamic-relief.org.uk/ Citation DIN, [...]

Islamic Relief Worldwide’s Integrated Sustainable Development Programme

2023-04-27T07:21:53+00:00

The introduction of Integrated Sustainable Development (ISD) programmes was a key component of the 2011–15 strategy for Islamic Relief. There was consensus from field staff and fundraisers that we needed to move away from the pressures of being donor and sector-led to having the means to tackle poverty through programmes which integrated various sectors within an overall opportunity-led analysis of what is really needed to lift communities out of poverty and suffering. Islam provides a holistic understanding of human development anchored on the maqasid or agreed upon objectives of Shari’a. According to this understanding, human development is the process of maintaining [...]
