“I have been able to do so much more than I thought I was capable of, the environment here at IRW really does make you want to strive to be the best.”

I graduated from the University of Birmingham with an LLB in Law with Business Studies, soon after I began my internship at IRW. I had applied to the role because I was very interested in working in the humanitarian sector and having my work mean something.

Currently I am working on a few different things within the communications department. Firstly, I was given the task of creating a site map for extranet and then setting up meeting with different departments in order to start working on moving the site to a different platform. I was also given the opportunity to be a bit more creative and worked on a couple of logos for ’16 days of activism’ as well as ‘peace action for climate change’.

Moreover, I also did a little work on IR digital, finding different photographs that can be used for different campaigns. All these tasks have allowed me to better understand how IRW works, both within the office and in the field. Currently I am working on World Humanitarian Action Forum and assisting with the programmes and planning for a roundtable discussion. I have been able to do so much more than I thought I was capable of, the environment here at IRW really does make you want to strive to be the best.

I’ve learnt so much already in such a short period of time and I look forward to learning more and further developing myself both personally and professionally.
