About Humanitarian Academy For Development (HAD)
WHO ARE WE?
An international NGO with a reach of over 40 field offices
Initially established in 2013 as the learning and development arm of Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW), the Humanitarian Academy for Development (HAD) is now a centre of global excellence, serving the leadership, research and talent development needs of the international development and humanitarian sector. HAD are the link between the humanitarian sector and beneficiaries- which aims to empower humanitarians in order to be more effective in their services to beneficiaries.
We work with charities, NGOs, CSOs, academic institutions and other like-minded individuals and organisations to critically examine experiences from the field and impart this knowledge through training and research whilst supporting upcoming humanitarian professionals.
Developing and delivering training courses tailored for the humanitarian sector, in a time where ever-changing challenges require practitioners to be constantly learning, adapting and updating in order to optimise and help to those in need around the world. Learning and Development have merged over 30 years of on-the-ground experience with the latest thinking derived from our Research and Development department, HAD has turned this synergy into award-winning training and capacity building for the global humanitarian sector.
Generating cutting-edge research on development and aid, R&D carry out original research on humanitarian response and International Development, utilising on-the-field data and international partnerships to provide cutting-edge industry changing research. As the think-tank of HAD, R&D seeks to generate new thinking on development and sustainability, tackling controversial topics with a fresh perspective, merging faith-based guidance with scientific data generated by our researchers and partners.
Engaging and developing humanitarian talent and future leaders- HAD’s Talent Development department provides a range of services that focus on the training and development of future humanitarians who share our values and believe in our mission. We do this through our internship programme, graduate scheme and global internship programme.
